US, UAE to boost defence trade
October 6th, 2010 - 12:12 am ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Oct 5 (IANS/WAM) Representatives of more than 50 defence and aerospace companies from the US have met the deputy chief of staff of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to discuss ways to bolster trade between the two countries.
Major General Ali Mohammed Subaih Al Ka’abi, Deputy Chief of Staff, met a US aerospace and defence trade mission Sunday. The mission has been organised by AmCham Abu Dhabi, the National Defense Industrial Association, and the US-UAE Business Council.
The two sides explored mechanism to bolster economic ties and how to tap investment opportunities available in the UAE to attract more US capital to the local market.
The trade mission consists of sixty-five representatives from over 50 companies in the defence and aerospace sectors. Besides major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the US defence sector, more than 40 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are also part of the mission.
