December 20th, 2011 - 9:17 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will set up 30 rural business hubs in eastern India.
USAID would offer assistance in setting up the hubs which would disseminate technologies and best practices to farmers and help the region achieve the second green revolution, Rajiv Shah, agency head, said Tuesday.
The US had offered assistance in setting up several agricultural institutions in India in 1960s which helped bring in the green revolution in the country.
“Now the time has come to revive the same to create a partnership for an evergreen revolution in view of existing challenges of changing climate, limited resources and growing demand,” said Shah.
