US firm, with biggest IT team in Kerala, to expand to Manila
November 1st, 2009 - 4:57 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 1 (IANS) California-based UST Global, which has the biggest workforce in Kerala’s software sector, is all set to expand operations in the Philippines by recruiting 1,000 professionals.
UST was one of the first companies to set shop in the Technopark information technology (IT) campus here and subsequently expanded operations to Kochi, has emerged as the biggest employer in the state’s IT sector with a workforce of over 3,000 professionals.
In a statement issued here Sunday, UST Global chief operating officer Joe Nalkara said cultural compatibility with the US and time zone efficiency made the Philippines an important part of the company’s growing presence in Asia and long-term global strategy.
The operations in Manila will begin in January, the statement said.
UST has invested in the Philippines to take advantage of its skilled IT workforce, it added.
