US firm Ciber unveils global delivery centre in Bangalore
October 13th, 2011 - 9:10 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, Oct 13 (IANS) US-based global IT firm Ciber Inc. Thursday unveiled its global delivery centre in the special economic zone (SEZ) here as part of its worldwide expansion plans to ramp up its outsourcing software services.
“With capacity to add 750 people at the global delivery centre, our India operations will become the largest, as we already have 1,200 software professionals working in Bangalore and about 100 in Chennai,” Ciber chief executive Dave Peterschmidt told reporters here.
The $1.1-billion IT consulting, services and outsourcing firm forayed into India in 2005 by acquiring the city-based Knowledge Systems Ltd. for $2.5 million and consolidated its operations by taking over the 200-member Iteamic Ltd. for an undisclosed sum.
“Our operations in India have grown exponentially, adding both employees and key skill sets. Our ‘follow-the-sun’ global delivery strategy provides flexibility and efficiency of 24×7 production cycles and increases access to skilled workforce,” Peterschmidt said.
As an extension of the company’s US and European delivery centres, the India delivery centre provides quality, scalability and services to its global clients.
“By expanding our operations in India, we intend to grow our business significantly by offering global delivery support and services to business overseas and within the country,” Ciber India head Vir Bhanu said.
The company’s global clients include leading players across verticals, electronics, automotive, healthcare, telecom, transportation, retail, manufacturing, financial services, communication and energy, and utilities.
“India is a very important part of our overall growth strategy and our global leadership team continues to be engaged in the expansion of our operations here,” Peterschmidt said.
The India subsidiary also operates a 24×7 helpdesk to the World Bank’s 80,000 employees worldwide.
