United Spirits Q2 net profit up 7.18 percent
October 28th, 2010 - 4:02 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS) United Spirits, the flagship company of the United Breweries Group, Thursday reported a 7.18 percent rise in net profit for the second quarter ended Sep 30 at Rs.74.6 crore as against Rs.69.6 crore earned during the like period of last fiscal.
The total income of the company for the quarter under review stood at Rs.1,365.53 crore, compared to Rs.1,087.66 crore during the like period of the corresponding year, representing a hike of 25.5 percent.
The Group regards this quarter as traditionally one of the most weakest of the four quarters.
The spirit costs in the quarter were marginally lower than in the previous quarter. The trends for the rest of the year would be more apparent post the onset of the crushing season in November-December, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Over the last few years and more particularly in the quarter just concluded, McDowell’s No.1 Platinum Whisky, a premium 100 percent grain offering, has been progressively rolled out nationally. The company has also launched an 18-year-old variant of Black Dog, its premium Scotch whiskey.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange the shares of the company were down 5.11 percent to trade at Rs.1,511.
