Union Budget 2009: PM Praises Pranab’s Efforts

The Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh seemed to be quite content with this years Union Budget, presented by the Financial Minister, Pranab Mukherjee.
Expressing his views on the budget, Mamohan Singh said that the Financial Minister has done a commendable job, thus providing a strategy to attract investment in the infrastructure sector, both in public and private. The Prime Minister hailed Pranab Mukherjee’s efforts to come up with a ‘populist’ driven budget at a time when the country is suffering from the recession bug.
The Prime Minister has reportedly stated that the Budget proposals would lead to fulfillment of his Government’s promise for inclusive growth.
“We are working towards 7% growth which is achievable, but not enough, and in the medium term we should aim for 8-9%,” Manmohan Singh told the reporters.
