Washington, Dec 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The discussion of the world is unsurprisingly centered on “unemployment.” A new study conducted in 23 countries has revealed that “unemployment” is the biggest topic globally.

Compared to similar survey in 2009, the British newspaper The Telegraph says the number of people discussing unemployment has gone up as much as 600 percent. The newspaper noted that this year, 18 percent of those surveyed in the country were discussing the topic “unemployment.” Last year’s figure was 15 percent while the 2009 figure was just 3 percent.

“Unemployment” thus overtakes corruption and positive as the most talked about problem in the world.

It comes as a little surprise that “unemployment” is being discussed globally at a rate that it has never been before. Since the global economic meltdown in 2008, economies around the world have struggled to keep the rate of unemployment down.

The percentage of those without job hovers around nine percent in the United States. In the United Kingdom, the rate is 8.3 million with so many workers still fearing that their status is not secured enough. Currently 2.6 million of the citizens who could work are without jobs. That figure is expected to shoot to 3 million in 2012.
