Ukraine world’s third largest grain exporter

Kiev, July 27 (IANS/WAM) Ukraine has secured its position as the world’s third largest grain exporter after the US and the European Union.
Ukraine has exported 21.2 million tonnes of grain during July 2009-June 2010 period. Russia, which supplied 19.9 million tonnes of grain to foreign markets, is fourth, Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation (UAC) reported Tuesday.

Ukraine firmly maintains the leadership in the world in the export of barley. With the volume of world trade in barley at 17 million tonnes, Ukraine supplied 6.2 million tonnes of barley to foreign markets.
