Trip Advisor, the world’s largest and most popular travel site, with more than 40 million monthly visitors, announced the top ten romantic hotels in India based on millions of real and unbiased reviews and opinions from travellers around the world as part of the 2011 Travellers’ Choice Hotel Awards.

With Valentine’s Day round the corner, couples can choose to getaway at some of India’s best romantic hotels that offer a choice of luxurious indulgence or a chance to be one with nature.

Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur is not only the most romantic hotel in the country, but also tops the overall ‘Top 25 Hotels’ category as well. This place is ideal for couples, who have luxury and pampering service on their minds. A weekend stay at this place would cost around Rs 41,532.

In the words of a TripAdvisor member: “Add this one to a list of things to do before you die. It is very peaceful and tranquil and sometimes feels like you have the whole place to yourself. It is one of the most romantic hotel situated in a lake. The white imposing building in the middle of lake pichola is a sight to behold.”

The list of romantic hotels traverses destinations from Manali and Munnar among the hills to the quaint backwaters in Kerala to exquisite locales in Rajasthan.

While Delhites can take their flashy cars and zoom off to Udaipur, which has two of the most romantic hotels to offer, Mumbaikars can take a romantic break from the incessant chaos of the city at the secluded Machan and Camp Canopy in Lonavla.
