UAE, Finland discuss energy cooperation
October 15th, 2010 - 9:39 pm ICT by IANSHelsinki, Oct 15 (IANS/WAM) The UAE and Finland Friday discussed ways to boost energy cooperation.
UAE Energy Minister Mohammed bin Dhaen Al Hamli and Finnish Economic Affairs Minister Mauri Pekkarinen led the talks here.
Al Hamli said electricity consumption has increased in the UAE due to rapid development.
The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) issued a tender last year for construction of four nuclear power plants, each with 1,400 megawatt capacity to meet the country’s energy demands.
Al Hamli lauded Finland’s role in nominating UAE to host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
