TVS Motors logs 34 percent sales growth in August
September 1st, 2010 - 3:26 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Sep 1 (IANS) City-based TVS Motor Company closed August with a 34 percent sales growth as compared to the previous year’s corresponding period.
Logging growth in all the three segments- motor cycles, scooters and three wheelers, the company sold 170,735 units last month up from 127,875 units sold in August 2009.
TVS Motor sold 167,109 two wheelers (domestic 148,081 units, exports 19,028 units) last month, up from 126,842 units (domestic 115,095 units, exports 11,747) sold in August 2009.
Cumulative sales of two wheelers for the period April to August 2010 stood at 786,256 units, up from 594,927 units in April to August 2009.
In the two wheeler segment, the company sold 66,574 motor cycles, 40,913 scooters and 59,622 moped last month as against 51,127 units, 28,582 units and 47,133 mopeds sold respectively in August 2009.
A recent entrant in the three-wheeler market, TVS sold 3,626 units last month, up from 1,033 units sold in August 2009.
Cumulative three-wheeler sales for the period April to August 2010 stood at 14,533 units.
