TVS Motor sales continue to slide downApril 1st, 2008 - 8:46 pm ICT by admin
Chennai, April 1 (IANS) Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company Tuesday posted lower sales at 117,045 units in March against 128,207 units sold during the same month of the previous year. The last month’s sales mix comprises of 60,908 motorcycles (73,239 units in March 2007), 15,942 TVS Scooty (20,297 in March 2007), 13,070 units exported (8,508 in March 2007) and 27,125 mopeds (26,163 in March 2007).
Earlier, the company attributed the declining sales to the tightening of the credit norms by lending institutions.
Asked why the credit crunch affects only TVS Motor, its chairman Venu Srinivsan said the company’s TVS Star model has good demand in rural areas where credit availability was a factor.
TVS Motor hopes to reverse the declining sales trend in the new fiscal with the launch of TVS Flame 125cc targeting the executive segment and the proposed fuel injection upgrade of Apache RTA this month.
