Trivitron forges joint venture to make medical equipment

Chennai, Mar 25 (IANS) City-based medical equipment manufacturer Trivitron Healthcare has entered into a joint venture (JV) with Italian ET Medical to manufacture cardio- vascular diagnostic equipment.
Trivitron will hold 51 percent stake in the JV, ET Trivitron Medical Technologies, and ET Medical the remaining 49 percent.

A Rs.25-crore plant with an annual capacity to make around 20,000 units will be set up in Trivitron Medical Technologies Park near here by this year end.

It will manufacture and market electronic cardiogarm (ECG) systems and telemedicine IT Solutions.

“India being the capital of world diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, there is an increased demand for cardiac diagnostic instruments like ECG machines, Holter systems and others. The manufacturing facility we are creating will be one of the largest facility in Asia catering to all the emerging markets and to the world eventually,” Trivitron Group founder and managing director G.S.K. Velu told reporters Thursday.

S. Kalyana Raman, general manager, marketing, said the plant will manufacture ECG machines at all price points - low, mid and high.

“We will also export to European markets,” he said.

With this venture the total number of joint ventures signed by Trivitron Healthcare goes to seven.

The other six are - with Aloka, Japan (to manufacture ultrasound system); Biosystems, Spain (to manufacture diagnostic instruments and reagents); Brandon Medical, UK (to manufacture advanced shadow less operation theatres lights); ET Cardioline, Italy (to manufacture cardiology diagnostic instruments) and Johnson Medical, Sweden, to manufacture modular infection free operation theatres.

Raman also said three more joint ventures will be finalised.
