Oct 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Many Americans this season will happily find themselves with temporary jobs this holiday season with Toy R Us hiring 45,000 people. The American population is suffering from increased unemployment since recession started and many are forced to work on part time basis on low salary jobs. Other stores are also contributing to the rise in jobs this season. The increase in jobs is a result of an additional 600 smaller stores located in various malls and shopping centers. The National Retail Federation expects the rate of seasonal employment to go up this year with sales being up by 2 to 5 per cent.
This is the biggest push by the Company in hiring employees to meet seasonal demand as they had only hired 35,000 people in the past. The job positions range from managerial and sales role to that of distribution center crews. Many people are looking forward to being employed with this spurt in the Retail sector. The retail industry is benefiting from what can be termed as the signs of a recovering economy. Though for the common man in the country there is still a long way to go. The economy is still weak and unemployment will be on the horizon for some time.
The total number of workers to be employed by the retail industry is predicted to be 600,000. Macy’s, Pier One and Borders apart from Toys R Us are the ones who are significantly contributing to the growth. Though the jobs are being offered on a temporary basis it will be a good source of income for the people while it lasts.
