toyota logo Washington, Mar 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toyota vehicle owners who are not happy with the repairs to their vehicles in the sticky gas pedal recall case, can also get replacement pedals installed. This was learnt in a memo that the company officials sent to Toyota dealers.

“A replacement pedal should only be offered to a customer after the reinforcement bar has been installed and the customer has expressed dissatisfaction with the operation and/or feel of the pedal,” Toyota said in a memo to dealers, service manager and other parts managers too. As of now the dealers have been adding a piece of metal into the gas pedal assembly, so as to reduce the friction. This particular problem had caused around 2.3 million vehicles to be recalled in January 2010.

The memo further says that the pedal replacement ought to be done at the absolute request of the Toyota customers only, and it also added that the dealers should not solicit pedal replacement on their own discretion. The Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons said that the company had sent letters to all the customers which said that they are welcome to order the pedal replacement, if they are not satisfied with the repair work done on their Toyota vehicle.

The vehicles which were affected in the January recall include the 2005-10 Avalon; 2007-10 Camry and Tundra; 2009-10 Corolla, Matrix and RAV4; 2008-10 Sequoia and 2010 Highlander.
