toyota-yaris-ts-titel New York, Apr 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Despite so many recalls, Toyota sales have increased by 40% in March 2010, according to company executives. The increase in sales might be attributed to the customer-friendly incentives, that the company had launched in early March. The incentives include 0-percent financing on those models, which have been recalled, leasing at very low prices and even free maintenance.

Toyota has recalled over 8 million vehicles the worldwide, and to boost customer loyalty they had no option, but to hand out these customer-luring incentives. “Many more retail consumers are going to be buying Toyotas in the month of March than any other brand,” according to Toyota Group Vice President Bob Carter. He was being interviewed at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that the Toyota shareholders have sued the company over false promises and claims by the company executives. The Toyota shareholders claim that the company executives didn’t divulge the truth, and thus misled the investors and the customers over the recall issues. They are particularly miffed over the part that the company executives didn’t reveal the exact nature and the depth of the accelerator problems, which led to numerous recalls. The shareholders allege that the company executives tried to pacify the customers and the investors that the acceleration problem was a simple issue, and would be sorted out easily. But in reality it was a huge issue, that led to millions of vehicle recalls too. However now with the soaring sales of Toyota, perhaps the shareholders would withdraw the lawsuit.
