Toyota recalls Sienna minivans
April 17th, 2010 - 10:41 am ICT by IANSWashington, April 17 (DPA) Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of some 600,000 Sienna minivans in the US and 270,000 in Canada because of safety concerns about potential corrosion in its spare tyre carrier.
The recall applies to certain models of the van from 1998 to 2010 that were driven in cold climates where road salt may have cause corrosion, Toyota said Friday. The tyre could fall off the vehicle if the problem deteriorates.
Owners will be asked to bring their cars to the dealership for inspection.
The Japanese automaker has been plagued by a series of recalls in recent months, including more than 8 million vehicles due to brake problems and uncontrollable acceleration.
