New York, Aug 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There was a time when people used to associate Toyota cars with safety, durability and unmatched performance and the Japanese car giant used to give the US based motor companies a run for their money. However, the image of the car giant has become tarnished ever since it was gripped by the never ending recall fiasco. In fact this year has turned out to be particularly bad for the car giant and so far it has recalled over 10 million cars in USA and other countries. The company is recalling the Toyota Sedan as well as Matrix hatchback models that were manufactured between 2005 and 2008. Three accidents have taken place so far from these models and it is evident that Corolla does not want to take any chance. Earlier this year Toyota had to recall its popular hybrid model Prius and a number of other models. These models were recalled owing to a plethora of problems like electronic stability control system errors, floor mats, brakes and defective gas pedals.
The new recall may further tarnish the image of Toyota among the customers as they may become skeptical about the safety level in its cars. The company had to churn out a huge fine after being slammed by the federal regulators earlier this year.
The company has said that the customs need not worry as it will replace the defective parts in their cars. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is overseeing the recall and Toyota has said it is collaborating with it. The possibility of the sale of the new corolla models getting affected cannot be ruled out either.
