Toyota recalls 50,000 Sequoia SUVS
April 29th, 2010 - 7:51 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Apr 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toyota’s name is associated with ‘recall’. And the latest recall in the Toyota stable, is of the 2003 model Sequoia SUV’s. The issue with them is that they slow down all of a sudden, so the company was forced to recall them.
Toyota announced the recall on Wednesday, and said that they would look onto the vehicle’s electronic stability control system that they believe is causing the problem, as it is responsible for maintaining the traction during the tuning process. They also added that in some specific cases the stability control system gets accidentally activated at very low speeds, and thus it prevents the vehicles from accelerating. The issue is already under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. However the company also added that so far they haven’t learnt of any accidents, injuries or mishaps due to this problem.
“Toyota is committed to investigating customer complaints more aggressively and to responding quickly to issues we identify in our vehicles,” according to Steve St. Angelo, who is the Toyota chief quality officer for North America.
It may also be recalled that Toyota has already recalled over 9 million vehicles with problems that range from sudden acceleration to braking problems, or even for floor mats that stick to the acceleration pedals.
