toyota recall Washington, Nov 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toyota is in the midst of yet another recall. This latest recall will affect 3.8 million vehicles, and the latest issue to rock Toyota’s paradise is a gas-pedal issue.

Toyota said on Wednesday that it would fix accelerator pedals on 3.8 million vehicles in the United States in order to prevent them from becoming stuck and leading to unintentional acceleration.

Toyota Motor Sales, which is the US division of the Japanese automaker, announced details of a major vehicle repair program.

Earlier Toyota had been involved in a recall in September, and in that case that the floor-mat was the culprit. This particular recall came into focus, after there was a fatal accident in California involving an accelerator pedal, which got stuck in the floor mat of a Toyota vehicle. It was termed as one of the largest recalls ever in the vehicle history. But this particular and latest recall is all set to topple that record.

The eight models involved are: Camry 2007 to 2010 (model year), Avalon (2005-2010), Prius (2004-2009), Tacoma (2005-2010), Tundra (2007-2010), Lexus ES350 (2007-2010), Lexus IS250 (2006-2010), and Lexus IS350 (2006-2010).

Toyota clarified that it would reconfigure the accelerator pedal and in some cases the shape of the floor surfaces under the pedal to solve the problem.

Toyota also said that it would also install a brake override system onto the involved models “as an extra measure of confidence.” This particular information makes Toyota all the more wary of potential failures in their vehicles, which are being recalled again and again.
