toyota11-1 Washington, Jan 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toyota is in the midst of yet another recall, and this time it is over an accelerator pedal problem. Around 2.3 million vehicles are going to be affected by this recall, which includes late model cars, SUVs and pickup trucks. Toyota issued this recall on Thursday, and said that the accelerator pedal problems were much more graver, than they had previously acknowledged.

Prior to this in November, Toyota was involved in another recall, and then they had said that it would fix accelerator pedals on 3.8 million vehicles in the United States in order to prevent them from becoming stuck and leading to unintentional acceleration. “In recent months, Toyota has investigated isolated reports of sticking accelerator pedal mechanisms in certain vehicles without the presence of floor mats,” Toyota group Vice President Irv Miller said in the statement.

In their September 2009 recall, Toyota had maintained that the floor-mat was the culprit. This particular recall came into focus, after there was a fatal accident in California involving an accelerator pedal, which got stuck in the floor mat of a Toyota vehicle. It was then termed as one of the largest recalls ever in the vehicle history.
