Tokyo, Jan 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Giant Japanese automaker, Toyota is recalling more than 1.7 million vehicles globally because of the danger of fuel leakage. The latest recall brings to almost 16 million the number of vehicles that Toyota has recalled in less than two years because of quality issues.

The company explained that about 1.2 million of the vehicles that are being recalled were sold in Japan. Most of the cars affected in the country are the Noah minibuses.

Outside Japan, Toyota is recalling more than 420,000 vehicles. They include Avensis and Lexus which are being recalled from mostly the United States and the United Kingdom.

In a statement, Toyota explained that, “Slight cracks may appear on the engine fuel pipes. If [the car] continues to be used, the crack may be widened and there may be risks of fuel leakage.”

About 245,000 Lexus units have been recalled in the United States. All the affected models were made between 2006 and 2009. About 15,500 Avensis were also recalled from the United Kingdom.
