Toyota Plagued By Yet Another SUV Recall

Apr 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The ghost of recall is just not leaving troubled Japanese car-maker Toyota Motor Corp. The company is trying to restore the faith of its customers after recalling its popular car models worldwide. The company has started recalling its models from the beginning of this year and a few days back it recalled its Lexus SUV model. Even before the fiasco could come to a close, Toyota has again announced recall, this time for the Sequoia SUV models. The company announced the latest mover on Wednesday. Around 50000 models of the Sequoia SUV will be recalled as the company has revealed. The model has been detected with a low-speed acceleration problem triggered by its stability system.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has asked for this recall. The NHTSA documents show that an earlier investigation into the Sequoia stability system and traction system was started by more than 150 complaints from the users. While Toyota said it has no reports of injuries or car crashes resulting from the stability system of the model, some complaints point out to the cars getting stuck in traffic owing to accelerator problems. Some of the Toyota Prius and Camry models were earlier recalled for unwanted acceleration problems earlier this year.
Toyota is yet to come out with a solution for resolving the slow acceleration that is plaguing the Sequoia SUV models. It is trying to find a fix though. The car owners will be informed by the next month by Toyota. The company paid a hefty fine a week back for alleged negligence and delay on its part to inform customers about potential defects in some of its cars.
