Canada, Apr 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Japanese carmaker Toyota which has been battling hard for some time to restore its image in the industry has got another reason to worry about. The carmaker which is known for its state of the art and sturdy vehicles has been reeling under a series of global recalls affecting a lot of its popular models. The problem began at the beginning of this year when some of its vehicles were found to be suffering from unwanted acceleration issue. The carmaker had to recall its models in the USA including the flagship models like Camry and Prius Hybrid. The carmaker had to resort to various means like offering free replacement of defective parts in the recalled cars. It also announced cuts in the price of the new models to retain and woo the customers.

In a recent development that is likely to tarnish its image further, the company has announced that it would recall its Sienna model in the USA. A few days back it announced recall of its luxury SUV Lexus GX 460 after the model was termed unsafe by a leading magazine. The Sienna minivans manufactured between 1998 and 2010 would be recalled in Canada and the USA as the company has reported.

However, Toyota is not recalling the Sienna model for acceleration problem as was the case with Prius models. The issue in the case of this model is related with the cable that holds the spare tire in the car. This time Toyota has specified the states whose residents are covered by this recall. The company has also said that the Siena owners who live in cold climate areas are likely to be affected by this recall.
