prius New York, Mar 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toyota’s cup of woes is now spilling over. They were already battling with so many recalls, and now there was an incident involving the Pruis in San Diego, (known as the runway Pruis episode), after which the company has been forced to announce yet another recall, over acceleration issues in the Pruis. Pruis is a very popular gas electric hybrid car, manufactured by Toyota. And this latest recall will affect the 2004-2009 models of this very popular hybrid car.

On Monday a wayward Toyota Pruis suddenly went completely out of control at 94 mph, on a highway in San Diego. The 61-year-old driver eventually called the 911 for help. The patrol officers rushed to the help of the hapless driver – James Sikes, and aided him in bringing back the car under the control of the driver. They succeeded in decreasing the speed of the 2008 Pruis to 50 mph. “I pushed the gas pedal to pass a car and it did something kind of funny … it jumped and it just stuck there. I was trying the brakes … it wasn’t stopping, it wasn’t doing anything and it just kept speeding up,” Mr. Sikes said. He also added that he could smell the brakes burning.

It may also be recalled that Toyota has already recalled over 9 million vehicles with problems that range from sudden acceleration to braking problems, or even for floor mats that stick to the acceleration pedals.
