toyota-floor-mat-recall-585Japan, Mar 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toyota Motor Corporation, the Japanese auto giant is desperately trying to redeem its image after being plagued by a global recall affecting millions of its popular cars. Federal officials have already received a number of new complaints related to deaths triggered by accidents caused by the faults in the cars made by Toyota. Toyota is clearly in damage control mode and the automaker has announced that out of the 2.3 million recalled by it, the defects in 500000 cars have been repaired by now. A majority of the recalled cars were fitted with faulty accelerators. The total number of casualties caused by the faulty cars is 34, according to the latest data.

Earlier also Toyota recalled its cars for certain problems, but this recall is kind of unprecedented and it has dented its image of a reliable and safe carmaker to an extent. As a measure to win back the skeptical and disgruntled consumers Toyota is now offering extended warranties on its models. The dealers have been instructed to work overtime to repair defective vehicles and win the trust of the users. Among the models that have been recalled in several countries, its hybrid Prius and popular sedan Corolla deserves special mention. The recalled cars were made in years starting from 2004 to 2009.

Akio Toyoda, the president of the company has expressed his apology to the annoyed Lawmakers of the USA. He is slated to address a press conference in Beijing on Monday. He has declared that he would make every attempt for taking safety to high levels in the Toyota cars.
