Canada, Sep 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The latest laptop recall by Japanese giant Toshiba has created sensation in the IT industry by now as the company is recalling nearly 41000 laptops, mostly in Canada and the USA. The company is recalling the models Satellite Pro T130, Satellite T130 and Satellite T130D as they can get overheated at the AC adapter plug in point and melt. In Canada 14 incidents of overheating has been reported. In USA the number is much higher as 129 users have complained of burn injury or laptop part melting owing to the overheating. The users can also download a BIOS update from the Toshiba website which the company says will resolve the issue. The Toshiba Canada website can be visited by the users to get a program which will help in detecting if their model is covered by the recall.
However, Toshiba has said that it has not received any complaints from the users in Australia for laptop overheating so far. On Saturday Toshiba Australia released a statement the Australian customers have not lodged any overheating related complaints so far. The news may come as a relief for the customers in Australia who bought the models affected by the recall. Before Toshiba decided to recall some models belonging to its Satellite series of notebooks leading vendors Sony and HP also took the same route earlier this year.
Laptop overheating is often the result of packing in lots of electronic parts in a cramped chassis and this may result in damage to laptop parts and melting as well. Toshiba however is confident that the recall will not affect the sales and it expects 100 million laptop sales this year globally.
