Tips On When Should You Turn Down A Promotion

Nov 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The prospect of getting a promotion at work might be one of the most satisfying career development which might give you the perfect impetus to give the extra effort at your job. Although initially it might seem that those hours of extra work and pushing yourself to the limit might have paid off, think twice before you accepting the promotion as the rewards might not always turn out to be that rewarding after all. Given the fact that saying no to a promotion might be one of the most difficult things under the sun, as jeopardizing your present position is the last thing that you want, there are certain instances when you should actually give a second thought about whether you actually want the promotion.
A promotion might not always turn out to be that hunky dory, as it might mean more work load, supervisory duties and not necessarily the opportunity to go up the career ladder. The promotion might bring along with itself some short-term growth but you should seriously consider turning it down if it limits your rise up the career ladder in the long term. Another factor that you need to ponder over before taking up a better position is whether the raise that you would receive is proportional to the amount of extra work that you would have to put in. If things point out otherwise, it might just be the right time for you to consider turning down the ‘promotion.’
Despite the fact that turning down a promotion at your workplace might be quite a tricky job, that might be just the right career move that you need to take.
