Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Making a professional resume is a challenge for all those who are applying for a job. For many, even the best qualification and experience is just not enough to guarantee a job if the resume is not up to the mark. Several candidates who apply for the jobs are often oblivious of the keywords that the employers usually look for in the resumes. The first step therefore is to go through the website of the company that one is applying for and then understand the requirements and objectives perfectly well. The candidate must also do a thorough background research of the company which can help in determining the keywords that should be used in the resume.
Another important factor while selecting the keywords in the resume is to understand the designation and its challenges for which one is applying. It is advisable for a candidate to go through the journals of the industry in which he/she is applying for and then select the relevant keywords to be put in the resume. One should also use the selected keywords at least three times in the length of the resume.
Candidates who are aiming to make a high impact resume should select keywords that are action oriented and also describe their previous experience precisely. One should also avoid vague terms which can confuse the reader and might also create a wrong impression about the candidate. In the section under leadership verbs such as ‘guided’, ‘inspired’, ‘motivated’ and ‘led’ should be used. Also helpful in creating an impression in a resume are words such as ‘analyzed’, ’streamlined’, ‘reorganized’ and ‘investigated’.
