‘TIL factories to create 2,000 jobs in Bengal city’
November 18th, 2011 - 9:15 pm ICT by IANSKharagpur, Nov 18 (IANS) West Bengal Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee Friday said TIL Ltd’s port and construction equipment factory and the upcoming crane and reach- stacker factory here would generate employment for over 2,000 people.
TIL Ltd is a leading provider of a wide range of construction, mining and power systems based in Kolkata.
“These factories would generate employment for over 2,000 people. But only those people who are employable would get the jobs,” Chatterjee said in West Midnapore district’s Kharagpur city.
The minister was here to lay the foundation stone for the crane and reach-stacker factory at industrial park in Vidyasagar and inaugurate the first phase of the port and construction equipment factory of the company at Changual. In the first phase, the company has invested Rs.150 crore.
Stating that the crane unit would take at least three years to get started, Chatterjee said: “I have asked the company to use the time for training people.”
“Considering the modern technology used in factories these days, skilled workforce is a pre-requisite,” he added.
TIL Limited chairman Avijit Mazumdar said a training centre will be set up by 2013.
