Textile parks attract Rs.3,500 crore investment
November 25th, 2010 - 7:52 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 25 (IANS) The government has okayed 40 textile parks in nine states that have together attracted Rs.3,500 crore investment and generated thousands of jobs, Minister of State for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi said Thursday.
“The Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) has attracted investment of Rs.3,500 crore and generated employment for 15,000 textiles workers,” Lakshmi said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
Lakshmi said under the SITP scheme, the ministry of textiles has sanctioned 40 textiles park projects.
These projects are located in nine different states - Andhra Pradesh (5), Gujarat (7), Karnataka (1), Madhya Pradesh (1), Maharashtra (9), Punjab (3) Rajasthan (5), Tamil Nadu (8), and West Bengal (1).
The minister said an external evaluation of the SITP scheme was contacted by M/s Ramky enviro engineers Ltd. in 2009.
