August 26th, 2010 - 3:27 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Aug 26 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh will set up a textile park with an outlay of Rs.107 crore (around $22 million), a minister said here Thursday.
“Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal will lay the foundation stone of the textile park Aug 28 which will come up in Amb tehsil,” Industry Minister Kishan Kapoor told IANS.
He said a private company, Himachal Textile Park Ltd, would develop the park in Una district adjoining Punjab.
Two subsidiaries of the Ludhiana-based Jindal group — Jindal Medicot Ltd and Jindal Speciality Textiles Ltd — will set facilities at an investment of Rs.204 crore (around $43 million).
“The Jindal group will commence production by next year,” the minister said.
While Jindal Medicot will manufacture medical textile products like absorbent bleached cotton wool and cotton crepe bandages and cloth, Jindal Speciality Textiles will produce PVC laminated products, tent fabrics, and truck sliders.
He said 10 corporate houses have also evinced interest in setting up units in the park that will have potential to employ around 2,200 people.
