AUSTIN, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) – The state of Texas will invest $1.1 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) in Allstate Insurance Co. in order to generate up to 600 jobs and $11 million in capital investment, Governor Rick Perry announced on Tuesday.

The TEF has committed with the state to create 200 jobs through the opening of a bilingual customer center in San Antonio, Texas. The main objective is to generate 600 jobs in the near future. This facility will improve Allstate’s customer service and expand its bilingual capabilities with employing individuals fluent in both English and Spanish.

“This Texas Enterprise Fund investment will help Allstate tap into a growing market of bilingual Americans, while providing quality employment and steady income for hundreds of Texas families,” Gov. Perry said.

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro said, “These are 600 new jobs that any community would be happy to have.”

In 2003, The 78th Texas Legislature, at the request of Gov. Perry, established the TEF in order to provide financial resources to strengthen the state’s economy. To date, the TEF has generated 54,680 jobs and $14.2 billion in capital investment.
