TCS eyeing $1 bn from small Indian establishments

Kolkata, May 18 (IANS) IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which recently launched iON - a fully integrated IT solution for small and medium businesses (SMBs) - is eyeing $1 billion revenue from the product in India in the next five years, a top company executive said Wednesday.

“We are eyeing one billion dollars business from iON in the country in the next five years,” Venguswamy Ramaswamy, Global Head-iON, TCS, told reporters on the product’s of launch in West Bengal.

iON addresses the entire spectrum of an SMB’s technology needs, which range from business solutions like human resource, finance, inventory and sophisticated domain-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions, he said and stated that the customer base of the new product was mainly the manufacturing, education, retail sector and wellness segments.

“iON, developed to deliver IT in the third generation service model to SMBs, was launched January 15. Currently we have 250 customers across India. We expect that our customer base will be 1,000 this year,” Ramaswamy said.

TCS has already launched the product in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra and expects to garner about 20 to 25 percent of the customer from the east, he added.
