Tata Power net profit rises but income slumps
May 19th, 2011 - 7:39 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, May 19 (IANS) Tata Power, India’s largest private sector electricity generator, Thursday posted a marginal increase of 2.36 percent in its net profit but registered a slump of 2.53 percent in its total income for the year ended March 31.
The net profit registered till March 31, 2011, is Rs.970.01 crore as compared to Rs.947.65 crore in the previous fiscal.
The total income slumped to Rs.6,918.48 till March 31 as against Rs.7,098.27 crore for the like period of last fiscal, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The company also recommended an interim dividend of Rs.12.50 per equity share of Rs.10 each.
“The operations continue to be stable and the new projects under implementation are progressing well,” said Anil Sardana, managing director of Tata Power.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the shares of the company Thursday closed 2.60 percent lower at Rs.1,217.25.
