Mumbai, Aug 16 (IANS) Automobile major Tata Motors Tuesday reported a decline of six percent in its global wholesales in July at 85,392 units as compared to the like period of last year.

“Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 350,565 higher by 4 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11,” the company said in a statement.

According to the statement, global sales of passenger vehicle segment of the company including that of Jaguar Land Rover declined by 24 percent in July at 38,154 units.

“Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 173,163 numbers, lower by 7 percent,” the statement said.

The stand alone global sales of Tata passenger vehicles and the distribution offtake in India of Fiat cars also declined by 38 percent in the period under review at 19,035 units over July 2010.

The cumulative sales of Tata passenger vehicles and the distribution offtake in India of Fiat cars for the fiscal came down by 16 percent at 91,954 units.

“The global sales of Jaguar Land Rover in July 2011 were flat at 19,119 vehicles. Jaguar sales for the month were 4,372 nos., lower by 23 percent, while Land Rover sales were 14,747 nos., higher by eight percent,” the statement said.

The cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal were reported to be six percent higher at 81,209 units.

Meanwhile, global sales of commercial vehicles including that of Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range reported a growth of 16 percent in July at 47,238 units.

“Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 177,402 numbers, a growth of 17 percent,” the statement said.
