Kolkata, May 21 (ANI): The leaders of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) would meet West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on May 22 to discuss about a separate State for Gorkhas comprising Darjeeling , Terai, Dooars and Siliguri.
“We have received the Chief Minister’s invitation for talks through the District Magistrate of Darjeeling,” Rajesh Pandey, GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri said.
A four-member GJM delegation comprising, Vice President Pradip Pradhan and two central committee members Amar Lama and Anmol Prasad would attend the meeting.
The GJM has been demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland for a long time.
“In this meeting we will submit the proposed map of Gorkhaland to the Chief Minister and urge him to raise a bill in the State Assembly and send it to the Centre after formally passing and recommending it”, Giri said. (ANI)
