Suzlon Energy posts quarterly net loss of Rs.19.4 crore

Mumbai, Oct 24 (IANS) India’s wind turbine manufacturing major Suzlon Energy Monday posted a net loss of Rs.19.4 crore for the quarter ended Sep 30.

The company had posted a net loss of Rs.89 crore during the like period of the previous financial year, Suzlon Energy said in a regulatory filing.

The total income stood at Rs.2,029.4 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs.1,176 crore during the like period of the last fiscal.

“We have made significant progress on key strategic initiatives, including the completion of the Hansen sale, realizing about $187 mn, and the continuation of the ’squeeze-out’ process with REpower,” said Tulsi R. Tanti, founder, chairman and managing director, Suzlon Group.

“Looking at our markets, we continue to see strong growth in India, Germany, France, UK, Canada and the offshore segment, reflected in our extremely strong $6.5 billion orderbook, which saw $1.78 billion of new orders over the past six months,” he added.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange the shares of the company closed up 1.38 percent at Rs.36.65.
