Sunil Mitra is revenue secretary, Sumit Bose to head disinvestment

New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) Disinvestment Secretary Sunil Mitra has been appointed revenue secretary and succeedeing him in that post is former secretary of the 13th Finance Commission Sumit Bose, the government announced Monday.
Sunil Mitra replaces Revenue Secretary P.V. Bhide, who was expected to get an extension till the presentation of the annual budget later this month.

Sumit Bose, a 1976 batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, took over his new assignment Monday. He was secretary of the 13th Finance Commission, which recently submitted its report on sharing of government tax receipts with the states.

Bose is expected to have a tough time ahead as the government comes out with a roadmap for equity sale in public sector units in March.

The finance ministry has already asked at least 32 ministries to identify those PSUs attached to their ministries in which the government could divest its stake. At least 60 state-run companies are likely to go for divestment.
