State oil firms to start grievance redressal service
October 1st, 2008 - 8:55 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) The three state-run oil marketing companies will launch a new grievance redressal scheme Thursday with toll-free numbers for registering complaints about their fuel products.A statement released by the petroleum ministry Wednesday said the “massive” scale of operations of the three companies “like any other business is likely to give rise to some customer complaints”.
After a meeting with chiefs of oil majors in August, Petroleum Minister Murli Deora had asked the state firms to set up a grievance redressal mechanism.
As part of that, the toll-free number for Indian Oil Corp is 18002333555 and for Bharat Petroleum Corp, it is 1800222725.
Hindustan Petroleum Corp has two numbers - 18002333777 for LPG and 18002333999 for petrol and high-speed diesel.
The call centres are being operationalised region-wise to allow customers to make complaints in the local language.
On registering their complaints, customers will be given a number so that they can track the status of the follow-up action.
“Field officers of the OMCs have been directed to attend to the complaints or grievances satisfactorily at the earliest,” said the statement.
Besides, the companies have also started to advertise the details of the grievance redressal offices in the company, as well as the days and hours for meeting them personally at various levels.
