starbucksNew York, May 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The latest retailer to get sued by a customer for serving unreasonably hot beverage is the Starbucks Corporation that has been sued by a customer who was allegedly served unreasonably hot tea. The customer had reportedly suffered a second degree burn due to the “unreasonably hot” beverage that was served in an inappropriate container. The plaintiff has reportedly sought unspecified damages for the physical pain and the metal anguish that he has suffered. The case has been registered at the New York Supreme Court of the New York County.

As per the reports the complaint against Starbucks Corp. was made by plaintiff Zeynep Inanli who was served the hot tea at a Manhattan Starbucks store. The 685 Third Avenue Store of the company, according to the allegation, not only served an unreasonably hot tea but also served it in a container that was according to him “not safe”. The plaintiff has maintained that it is for the negligence of the Starbucks Corporation store that he has had to suffer the burn and the agony.

On the part of the Starbucks Corporation, reports claim that the Seattle-based Starbucks Corporation did not return the requests of the reporters for comments over the matter. However, it is not for the first time that a company has been sued for serving extremely hot beverages or food items. In 1994 McDonald’s Corporation was ordered by a jury to pay a whopping $2.86 million to a New Mexico woman who suffered burns caused by the extremely hot coffee that was served to her.
