The factory was unearthed during a joint raid by officials of the agriculture department and the police.
“More than 500 sacks of pesticide ready for being transported to Bareilly town were seized,” said Mandideep’s sub-divisional officer of police D.P.S. Rajput.
“We have been receiving complaints of spurious and substandard pesticide being manufactured at the factory,” Rajput told IANS over phone.
According to him, chemicals were mixed with ash and passed off as pesticide.
“We conducted the raid after getting a tip-off that the consignment was ready to be transported,” Rajput said.
Twenty employees engaged in manufacturing and packing the spurious pesticide were arrested while the factory owner Ashok, who is also its director, is absconding.
The police have registered a case and launched a hunt for Ashok.
