- Chandigarh, Nov 14 (IANS) Now tourists coming to Chandigarh can take back memories of one of the most well-planned cities in the country.
A state-of-the-art souvenir shop, offering coloured reproductions of works of art of legendary French architect Le Corbusier, was inaugurated here Saturday at the Le Corbusier Centre and Museum in Sector 19.
“It was a long pending demand of outstation and foreign tourists that they want something to take along with them. To cater to this, we had opened a small souvenir shop a few months back, but today we have got a well-furnished three-room shop offering an assortment of things,” V.N. Singh, who designed the shop and is a consultant at the Le Corbusier Centre, told IANS Saturday.
He added: “The main aim of the shop is to popularise modern art and the architectural heritage of Chandigarh all across the world. The price range of these souvenirs varies from Rs.50 to Rs.5,000.”
Corbusier had designed Chandigarh, and worked here with his team, including foreign and Indian architects, from 1952 to 1965.
