sDallas, May 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Southwest Airlines has been fined $200,000 by the U.S. Department of Transportation who have accused the airlines for “bumping” out passengers carrying valid tickets. Reportedly, the Airlines didn’t pay any heed to the federal guideline which made the matter go worse and charge the airlines for a fine. As a matter of fact, any passengers who holds a valid ticket is entitled to a cash voucher or compensation if in any case the passenger is denied access to the flight seat owing to over booking issues. However, the investigators have revealed the fact in their official statement that the Southwest Airlines have never offered any bumped passengers any alternate flight tickets or any sort of compensation in terms of the ticket fare. Reportedly, on another case the Continental Express Flight witnessed an over booking issue so massive that it made 47 passengers stay back all throughout the night in the aircraft itself.

The Department of Transportation has gone ahead to impose heavy fines on major Airlines like Continental Airlines, Mesaba Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines owing to the six hours of flight delay which turned out to be a major hindrance for all flight boarders.

When asked about it Brandy King who happens to be the spokesperson for Southwest Airlines said that such incidents never occurred on a large scale but only in case of a few flights for which no alternate ways could be found out. However, Southwest Airlines has promised to make sure that such incidents are never repeated in the future. It was also said that the Southwest Airline which happens to be one of the busiest airline services based out of Dallas had no objections in settling the fined amount so as to make sure the issue doesn’t trigger any political conflicts.
