South Korea, Uzbekistan sign $4.1 bn gas deals
August 24th, 2011 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSSeoul, Aug 24 (IANS/WAM) South Korea and Uzbekistan have signed deals totalling $4.1 billion to develop the Surgil gas field near the Aral Sea and build a gas and chemical plant, it was announced Wednesday.
The deals are the largest contract between South Korea and Uzbekistan since they established diplomatic ties in 1992.
The agreements were reached during a business forum in Uzbekistan, attended by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and his Uzbeki counterpart Islam Karimov.
Seven MoUs were signed at the forum, also attended by some 150 business leaders of the two nations.
Lee is currently on an official visit to Uzbekistan.
