South African Airways to increase flightsMay 29th, 2008 - 5:23 pm ICT by admin
Mumbai, May 29 (IANS) South African Airways will be adding one more flight from Mumbai, making it five flights per week from October this year. “Due to an increase in load factor in leisure as well as corporate traffic, the airline is augmenting the frequency. More and more corporate travellers are going to South Africa for business and Meetings Incentives Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE),” said Tauseef Khan, South African Airways’ acting head-South East Asia.
The airline also plans to start a flight from New Delhi.
“We are losing out on a lot of business by being an offline carrier from Delhi. Many travellers cancel their trip to South Africa as there are no direct flights. We will soon start our operations in New Delhi, since it is an extremely important destination for us,” Khan said.
Apart from this, the national carrier of South Africa is also planning to tie-up with domestic carriers in India for increasing their reach. Currently, the airline has special agreements with Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines aimed at serving more cities.
