sony_3d Manhattan, Mar 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sony, Panasonic and Samsung have unveiled the next generation of the humble TV’s, in the form of the 3D TV. Sony has launched the NX800 based 3D TV. Samsung showcased the TV’s at a press conference, which was held at the ‘Bring the Wonder of 3D Home’ at the Time Warner Centre.

The 3D TV sets deliver very high definition 3D images from DVD’s and even from the humble cable networks. Currently there are no known broadcasters of the cable network in the 3D format, but industry insiders say that ‘3D cable network’ is the future, and it is on the way. Another drawback is that currently these futuristic TV’s are available only in Japan. Only someone with deep pockets can buy them, as they are priced in the range of 2500 pounds to 5000 pounds.

Another downside is that 3D glasses are required to watch the transmission on the 3D TV. The special electronic 3D glasses are especially made for the 3D TV, and they cost more than $200 per piece. As they are so expensive and would be required to watch TV everyday, so they need to be handled with care too.

Sony’s 3D TV comes in 4 sizes, from 40 inches to 60 inches in diameter. 2 pairs of RealID Active shutter 3D glasses are also included in the package, as without the 3D glasses watching 3D TV is meaningless.
