Nov 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Christopher J. Christie the governor of New Jersey has joined hands with Kenneth I. Chenault American Express Chairman for promoting “Small Business Saturday”. This campaign is meant for supporting the regional small business owners and to inspire the residents to buy things from local shops after the Thanksgiving rush. It is quite well known that Thanksgiving attracts the customers to buy products from giant retailers and the same trend is seen on Black Friday. The governor said in his statement that “Our small businesses are critical to our economy and to our livelihood.” He added that he hopes the residents will join this initiative. He feels that they will get the value for their money.
As per the information obtained from the U.S. Small Business Administration close to 28 million small sized businesses exist in the USA. These businesses also have helped in new job creation amidst tight economic times. The 350 Project a small business advocacy group says that for $100 spent in regionally owned and independent outlets $68 comes back to the community in form of taxes, payroll as well as other expenses. It is expected that almost 138 million people would shop this weekend thereby creating monetary benefits for both employee and employers.
The governor also said that New Jersey has some unique and exciting retail shops in USA. The shoppers should explore the shopping opportunity offered by the boutiques and small shops. The promoters of the small business Saturday concept are also resorting to the blog and popular social networking websites. In some cases online shopping is also an option with small businesses.
