Small Business Saturday Aimed At Improving Small Trader’s Prospect

Nov 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) When the shoppers are interested about big shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a new initiative is being taken that is aimed at improving the prospect of the small time retailers in the U.S. This has been named as “Small Business Saturday”. It was celebrated yesterday in some parts of the U.S. amidst the frenzy of Cyber Monday hypes. The Governor of New Jersey is an active proponent of this initiative and he said that it will help the small retailers in the state to increase their revenues and create employment at the end. To make this concept popular the proponents are resorting to popular social networking services like Facebook.
Jae Kim who owns Cherry Creek Custom Floral expressed hope that this year is going to be ‘a really good for the small businesses’. She runs her small business but it is the first time she has come across such an initiative. She said that she sincerely hopes with time the initiative gains momentum and becomes a widespread practice. The initiative has got support of more than a million people on Facebook already. However, the big brands are yet to come up with their support for it. So far, American Express is the sole giant company that has supported this concept officially.
There are a huge number of small retailers in USA who face stiff competition from retail giants during the year end shopping season. The “Small Business Saturday” is aimed at reviving the business of this small retailers in several states of USA and the proponents think it is high time the residents start thinking about supporting their neighborhood shop owners during the shopping season.
