Sikkim’s first luxury spa resort to be opened Saturday

Gangtok, June 25 (IANS) Sikkim’s first luxury resort, Deluxe Spa Resort, will be opened near here Saturday, a senior official of the project developer said Thursday.
The Rs.100-crore resort, developed by Orissa-based hospitality company Mayfair Group of Hotels and Resorts in Ranipool, some 15 km away from here, will be inaugurated by Chief minister Pawan Chamling, Mayfair (sales and marketing) vice-president Ravi Mahapatro told reporters.

“The luxurious accommodation consists of villas and suites and has health and bodycare provisions, meditation and yoga, including other traditional therapies based on Ayurveda, Chinese and Southeast Asian practices,” Mahapatro said.

It also has a common swimming pool for general guests besides the individual temperature controlled dip pools for select villas.

He added that the resort meets all classifications for five-star standards and the status would be formally given after a visit of the classification committee next month.

“This resort will be the first five-star spa resort in the region,” added Mahapatro.

Officials said a standard deluxe room in the resort would cost Rs.12,000 per night, while the Royal suite with balcony, living room and private dip-pools would cost Rs.35,000 per night.
